I’m Alex, although my official name is Alexandra. Alexandra was usually the name my mother used when I was in trouble, so Alex feels much safer!

I’m a small-animal veterinarian, with a particular passion for dentistry and feline patients. Before focusing more on dentistry, I spent around 10 years working extensively with cats. During that time, I gained strong experience in feline medicine and, perhaps just as importantly, learned to understand cats’ very strong opinions about visiting the veterinarian.

I also have experience working in a veterinary hospital, where I have treated a wide range of patients and conditions. Over the years, dentistry has become the area of veterinary medicine that interests me most. I am currently developing my expertise through ESAVS’s dentistry programme, with the goal of making dental care an increasingly central part of my work.

To me, being a good veterinarian means combining knowledge and experience with kindness and patience, and treating every patient as an individual. It is especially rewarding to see how much a healthy, pain-free mouth can improve an animal’s quality of life.

• When I’m not at the clinic, I usually spend time with my family and our six-month-old Japanese Akita, Ohana. Ohana makes sure there is always plenty to do, plenty to keep us entertained, and very close supervision.
